Jobs & Resume Listings

The Jobs module is a Job Board for XOOPS allowing for the posting, editing of jobs and resumes, allowing searches and the sending of responses to posters.

Latest version: 4.0 | 3.0 RC3 (for 2.0.x)
Note: 4.0 requires XOOPS 2.3.x; for XOOPS 2.2.x, 2.0.x and earlier, use 3.0RCx (bug/security fixes only)

This module provides a solid jobs board with support for categories and permissioned access. Job seekers may post, search, and respond to jobs and resumes. Each companies postings may be managed by up to 3 users. The jobs module also supports the Waiting Submissions module block and RSS as well as the XOOPS notifications and comments.

I've used this in a couple of installations since starting with the 2.x version.

Installation

Fresh Install

Install per standard XOOPS module installation procedures.

Upgrades

Upgrades from 3.x require you to run the upgrade script per the included readme file (make sure you are logged in as an administrator). Then update the module in the admin area. Upgrades from 2.3 to 2.42 require you to read the upgrade instructions. Upgrades from pre-2.0 require more effort - make sure you follow the extensive upgrade instructions. More information available at the author's website.

Configuration

Edit the preferences to your liking as well as the the language files and templates.

Modifications

In 2.4, I had to manually fix the modules version in the database by editing the modules table (per a post I found on xoops site). I couldn't list items to approve until I did that (the message kept coming up in the admin interface and i couldn't get past it to review submissions until I fixed it). Maybe it was fixed in 2.42?

Enhancement Requests

Things I'd like to see:

  • Ability to add text of resume for xoops searching of resumes. This is supposedly available in the 3.0/4.0 series -- am testing further.
  • Easy method to make/map profile module data into other modules and their forms.
